William Morris (British, 1834–1896) is celebrated for his lush floral and foliate motifs derived from the English countryside. This tea set features two of Morris's iconic designs in The Met collection. Strawberry Thief, reproduced on our tin of The Met x Harney & Sons: Botanical Blend Earl Grey tea and tea-infusing covered mug, is a kaleidoscopic cotton textile registered in 1883 and printed around 1917–23 at Merton Abbey Tapestry Works (British, founded 1881). Showcased on our tea towel is Blackthorn (1892), a sumptuous block-printed wallpaper.
