Statue of Liberty Tote
Our canvas tote features a detail from The Great Bartholdi Statue – Liberty Enlightening the World (1885), a hand-colored lithograph in The Met collection. Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi's (French, 1834–1904) world-famous statue was created as a gift of friendship from France to the United States, and arrived in New York Harbor in 1885. That same year, the celebrated New York printmaking firm Currier & Ives (American, 1857–1907) captured the landmark in a grand, aerial vista including Manhattan, parts of the Brooklyn, and the New Jersey shoreline.
