Description

Our timeless earrings are modeled after two gold belt attachments (1st century B.C.–1st century A.D.) from The Met's Greek and Roman Study Collection. Roman Republic laws limited the display of personal wealth, but jewelry made a comeback in the imperial period after 27 B.C. Many goldsmiths migrated to Rome to satisfy this new market, and their styles were copied throughout the Roman empire as well-to-do provincials sought to follow imperial fashions.
