Retro 1951 Iznik Garden Pen and Pencil Set
This pen and mechanical pencil set references two remarkable Turkish dishes crafted in the renowned Iznik kilns and now in The Met collection. Our pen adapts the bird-and-flower motif from a colorful dish made around 1575–90; stylized carnations, tulips, and hyacinths, sometimes in combination with birds, were pervasive decorative elements on 16th- and 17th-century Iznik creations. The pencil features the feathery "saz" leaf design popular in Ottoman decoration amid blue flowers taken from a striking plate dated to the third quarter of the 16th century.
