Description

The great Seljuqs were a Turkish dynasty that fostered wide cultural exchange among diverse traditions in the region from Iran to Turkey from 1038 to 1307. In celebration of the exhibition Court and Cosmos: The Great Age of the Seljuqs at The Met, we have commissioned this stunning rug.

Designed by Barbara Barran, its eye-catching pattern was inspired by a rare mina'i stonepaste bowl (second half 12th–early 13th century) in The Met collection, which features a dazzling abstract repeat. The rug's name is taken from an inscription on this precious object: "Glory, power, prosperity, victory and triumph, happiness and safety until the last day to the owner of this bowl."

Our exclusive rug was loomed in India in a limited edition of 250 using vegetable-dyed wool.

Found only at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
