Description

A bronze Etruscan jug (late 6th–early 5th century B.C.) in The Met collection lends its silhouette to our elegant pitcher. The original is classified as an oinochoe vessel, which was used to serve wine. It's said to have been found with a shallow bowl (also in the Museum's holdings), which still preserves the imprint of the jug's base.
