Auguste Rodin: The Secret Mini Sculpture
The two graceful hands in this mini reproduction are based on Study for the Secret, a sculpture in which two eloquent right hands "hold" an intangible secret. Auguste Rodin (French, 1840–1917) was preoccupied with hands, for they are the creative, shaping force between the world of nature and the world of artistic vision—hands in his oeuvre are full of expression, power, and emotion. The bronze Study for the Secret in The Met collection was probably modeled by Rodin around 1910 and cast in 1956.
