American Quilt Tea Set
Our tea set, which includes a tea-infusing covered mug, a tea towel, and a tin of The Met x Harney & Sons: American Quilt Peppermint Blend, exhibits a detail from a prismatic Honeycomb quilt (ca. 1830) in the Museum's holdings. This mesmerizing textile by Elizabeth Van Horne Clarkson (American, 1771–1852) is thought to have been made as a wedding present for her son, and serves as the earliest wholly pieced American quilt in The Met collection.
