Amen Picasso Ginger Scented Candle
The powerful scent of ginger evokes Pablo Picasso's (Spanish, 1881–1973) Acrobat from 1932, which features on the label of this aromatic candle. Circus performances were common sights on Parisian streets and in public squares, and acrobats—as well as actors and harlequins—were a favorite subject of Picasso's.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death, the sustainable Parisian maison Amen—in collaboration with the artist's granddaughter, art historian Diana Widmaier-Ruiz-Picasso—has unveiled a limited-edition collection of scented candles inspired by this titan of modern art, who spent the majority of his adult life in France. Presented in a porcelain jar with a reforested wood lid and encased in biodegradable packaging derived from mushrooms, each all-natural candle is poured by hand in Grasse, the French capital of perfumery, near Picasso's studio in Antibes.
