Man in the Moon Moonstone Ring
This fine 14K gold is set with a beautiful carved moonstone surrounded with elegant white sapphires. This unique ring celebrates a silver and gilt pocket watch in The Met collection. This elegant "lunar" ring will be sure to garner compliments (and comments) when worn for day or evening.
The original watch was made about 1650 by Thomas Alcock, who was recorded as working in London in the 1630s. Called a calendar watch, its handsome dial with its evocative "man in the moon" on a starry blue background indicated the time of tides, mean solar time, phase of the moon, and day of the month. We have adapted this celestial visage for our unique pendant.
