Description

Our dramatic drop earrings interpret a stunning nose ornament (1st–7th century) in The Met collection. Nose ornaments were among the earliest personal adornments worn throughout the Andes in Precolumbian times. Those made in the Cauca Valley by the Yotoco people are especially dazzling and large in scale. This example would have covered the lower face, and likely produced a striking audible effect with its many free-hanging elements.
