Our elegant lacquer frame displays floral details adapted from the lush botanical background of the Lewknor carpet, a magnificent tapestry-woven ceremonial table carpet in The Met collection. The frame holds a 4" x 6" picture.
The Lewknor carpet was commissioned from Flemish weavers in 1564 by a member of the Lewknor family, an established English noble family. The original design includes strawberry plants, daisies, cowslip, roses, lilies, blueberries, and cherries. The carpet was passed down through the family for nearly four centuries.
